Please Bring Back Your Box Back

Bring your wooden box back to us at the Alderney Roots farm whenever you are passing (if no one is around, just leave it by the entrance to the site), ready for us to refill with veggies for next week! *Don’t worry about returning the plastic crates – these can be recycled with your plastic recycling.

Veggie of the Week: Cavolo Nero

We could eat this leafy green breakfast lunch and dinner (and sometimes have done just that!). There are endless ways to use this kale: smoothies, juices and baking as well as this dreamy pesto recipe, which is super easy to make and really brings out the best of this green.

Rough Recipe: Finely chop green garlic and lightly sauté in extra virgin olive oil. Blanch cavolo nero leaves (you can use stalks too but we found it easier to work without) in a pot of boiling water, for no longer than a minute. Drain and mix with garlic then blend with olive oil, pine nuts, parmesan, salt and pepper to taste and a squeeze of lemon. We had this on homemade pasta on the first night and on potatoes the second night and found it gets better with age!

News from the Farm

We are holding a really exciting event at the Alderney Roots farm next Sunday 11th in collaboration with The Georgian House, see poster attached to this email for more details. In addition to this event we are offering our CSA members a chance to come up a little earlier and get your hands dirty in exchange for 20% off all food from the box!

A great chance to come up and meet the AY-Roots team and learn about what we do, and why we do it!

No gardening experience necessary, only a willingness to get a little muddy!

Share your snaps with us!

We’d love to see any snaps or vids of your Alderney Roots veg in action – either via social media or email. Tag us using #AlderneyRoots, @alderney_roots or email info@alderneyroots.com
