Veggie of the Week: Radish

Our veggies are usually good for about a week when stored right, but with radishes, we’d highly recommend eating them straight out the box! Try to enjoy these little pink powerhouses on the day of or the day after delivery for the best flavor. If they start looking a little dishevelled, a quick soak in a bowl of iced water can perk them right up.

One of the easiest and most satisfying ways to enjoy radishes is by serving them with a bowl of salted butter for dipping, like crudités. If you’re up for something a tad fancier, you can explore compound butter recipes like the ones we’ve included below:

Radishes take on a whole new flavour when skewered and lightly grilled for a fantastic vegetarian option at your next BBQ. And if you’re feeling adventurous, there’s the option of this Japanese Teriyaki Pork, with braised radish and star anise rice (seriously YUM). Plenty of tasty possibilities to make the most of this versatile veggie.

Veggie Notes

Introducing our ‘Tiny Garlic’ – a petite powerhouse of flavour! Don’t let its size fool you, this little gem carries all the bold taste of traditional garlic. To ensure you have plenty to enjoy, we’ve included 4/5 bulbs, compensating for its smaller stature. While it might be a bit fiddly to handle, its worth every minute of prep time, we promise!

Hello beans and toms! It has been super exciting to finally be harvesting our tomatos and french beans this year, especially after the great tomato fail of 2022 (let’s not talk about that). Enjoy these lovely lovely veggies at your next BBQ or alongside your favourite fish dish!

CSA Member Shout Out

This week, we’d like to say thanks to Keith for his top tip on salad storage. He was able to keep his ‘Roots salad fresh for the week by using the wet paper towel method. If you want to find out more, the following video is a great and simple guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ku6hy78Z_Eo

If you have any storage tips or tricks, we’d love to hear them!
